questioning the purpose

OBEY

OBEY Clothing was founded on the art, design and ideals of Shepard Fairey. What started for Fairey with an absurd sticker he created in 1989 while studying at the Rhode Island School of Design has since evolved into a worldwide street art campaign, as well as an acclaimed body of fine art.

The OBEY meaning is rooted in the Do It Yourself counterculture of punk rock and skateboarding, but it has also taken cues from popular culture, commercial marketing and political messaging. Fairey steeps his ideology and iconography in self-empowerment. With biting sarcasm verging on reverse psychology, he goads viewers, using the imperative “obey,” to take heed of the propagandists out to bend the world to their agendas.

OBEY Clothing was formed in 2001 as an extension of Shepard’s range of work. Aligned with his populist views, clothing became another canvas to spread his art and message to the people. The clothing is heavily inspired by classic military design, work wear basics, as well as the elements and cultural movements Shepard has based his art career on. Through Mike Ternosky and the OBEY Clothing Team, Shepard works to create designs that represent his influences, ideals and philosophy.

OBEY is about variety and experience, thinking about your surroundings and questioning the purpose. The medium is the message.

the spirit of skateboarding and street culture

HUF Worldwide

HUF-founder Keith Hufnagel grew up skateboarding in the gritty streets of 1980s New York City. He was part of an early street skating generation that came up amongst a melting pot of city countercultures—hip hop, punk, graffiti, streetwear, and other underground movements.

In 1992 Hufnagel moved to San Francisco and became a professional skateboarder, offering him the opportunity to travel the world by means of his skateboard. Wanting to give back to the communities that raised him, Hufnagel opened the first HUF boutique in 2002 on an offbeat block in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district, bringing together the most respected skate, streetwear, and sneaker brands under one roof.

HUF quickly came to be recognized as the Bay Area’s institution for hard-to-come-by goods, attracting a new era of skaters, artists, and like-minded creatives. As it grew, Hufnagel launched his own collection, assimilating into one label what he felt epitomized the spirit of skateboarding and street culture.

Now based in Los Angeles, HUF has become one of the most respected and pioneering skate and lifestyle brands worldwide. Collaborating with artists, designers, photographers, musicians, and unconventional tastemakers, it’s also a home to a collective of eclectic skateboarders and ambassadors.

HUF represents the progressive vision that has driven Hufnagel since day one. It is renowned for its clean aesthetic, provocative designs, and quality craftsmanship. For over 15 years, HUF has been dedicated to pushing the culture forward, by refusing to conform to it.

Build. Destroy. Rebuild.

PASTEELO

We are a Copenhagen based brand and collective of athletes and artist from the skateboard, music and art scene.

Founded in 2015 by three local skateboarders and childhood friends from Copenhagen. With deep roots in skateboarding we wanted to create something that gave us the same vibes we got when we first fell in love with skateboarding in the mid 90’s. Pasteelo reflects the essence of who we are in all aspects of style and cultural life.

With simple and sporty aesthetics, we pay a tribute to the foundation of the culture and the people within.
